Joey Mbu, a Senior Defensive Tackle for the Houston Cougars, is the type of guy that doesn’t grab headlines, but he does everything you ask of him.
Strengths:
At 6’3″ and 310 pounds, it is hard to miss him, Joey Mbu is the center of the defense for Houston. He does a great job of taking on double teams and freeing up his linebackers to make plays. He has good footwork and is quick off the ball. he is also a decent run stuffer.
Weaknesses:
Endurance could be an issue, where he seems to wear down during games and not be quite as significant in the fourth quarter as in the first quarter. He will not be a high draft pick, due to his lack of production. This season he has 30 tackles, 4.5 TFLS, and 2.5 sacks.
Draft Prognosis:
Mbu is a leader on and off the field. He is the type of player defensive coordinators love, but will not spend high draft picks on. He will most likely fall to the 6th or 7th round.
