As most 3-4 nose tackles do, they so not get much credit for the dirty work. it doesn’t show up in the stats, but Kilgo has no problem with doing that type work to open lanes for his linebackers to make plays.
Strengths:
With his stout, sturdy frame he still has the flashes of quickness to play at the next level. Has the ability to sidestep and get off blocks, he also plays with aggressive hands and can create space off the snap of the ball. He also has the ability to absorb double teams and keep blockers off of the second level.
Weaknesses:
Needs to utilize proper mechanics and leverage rather than relying on brute strength to get off blocks. His range is quite limited and will have to develop to be more than a rotational defensive tackle.
Draft Prognosis:
His anchor ability and familiarity with the nose tackle position in a 3-4 defense will get him looks at the next level. Darius Kilgo is a mid round prospect at this time. He has the ability to rise if he tests well after this season.
