Jacoby Brissett originally committed to the University of Florida in 2011. After limited playing time, Brissett transferred to NC State, but due to NCAA rules, had to sit out the entire 2013 season. Brissett got his first real opportunity to start, and hasn’t looked back. So far this year he has passed of 1,796 yds, 61.1 comp %, 16 TDs, 3 INTs. His biggest game, probably of his career was this season, against FSU. Brissett put up good numbers, but what really impressed me, was his poise. Brissett showed the consistent ability to keep plays alive with his feet, extending the pocket, and throwing a TD pass while being off balance. Strengths: Brissett has impressive size, at 6’4 231lbs, that he knows how to use. Brissett does a great job of keeping plays alive with his feet, while constantly looking downfield to throw. Brissett has the arm strength to make just about any throw. He stands tall in the pocket and delivers the ball, when being pressured. Mentally, he is a level headed QB, that is a natural leader.
Weaknesses: Brissett only has one year of starting, and that season isn’t over yet. Brissett has shown to be inconsistent at times, with completion %’s ranging between 72% to 46.7%. Brissett brings some skepticism with him, because of his limited playing time and some inconstant play.
Overall: Brissett is a talented player, with all of the tools needed to succeed at the next level. He has the prototypical size that NFL teams covet at the QB position. With the right NFL team, Brissett can become a starter at the next level. I look for him to be drafted Day 3, anywhere between 4th and 7th round.
